An IPA a Day Keeps the Doctor Away
Arrogant Bastard Amber/Strong Ale (Stone Brewing)
Pours a beautiful amber color, nice cream colored head that leaves behind sheets of lace.
Smells super hoppy, but at the same time like brown sugar a bit.
It’s a pretty intense tasting beer. One of the only beers I’ve had that is more overwhelming is Stone’s Ruination. Each swallow coats my mouth in a sweet, super-hoppy citrus overload. The power of the grapefruit is strong in this one, among other citrus tastes. The malt pushes back equally as much though. It’s weirdly balanced, just overwhelming.
With my super hoppy sensibilities nowadays, I much prefer most of Stone’s other beers (in particular the Ruination or IPA), but Arrogant Bastard was one of the first beers that really knocked me on my ass and will remain an occasional favorite for a long time to come.
